Our activities

Our arts team works with the best of British creative talent to develop innovative, high-quality events and collaborations with artists and cultural institutions around the world. As a part of our Creative Economy programme we educate young professionals and forge connections between the growing creative industries in the UK and Portugal.

A European-wide programme designed to support best practice in the commissioning, creation, dissemination and programming of performing arts by Deaf and disabled artists.

Selector Radio

Selector Radio is the British Council’s international radio showcase for the best new music from the UK – broadcast in Portugal in partnership with Rádio SBSR.FM

Film

We develop imaginative film projects, curate contemporary British film programmes, organise international events and help filmmakers and industry experts represent the UK abroad.

Visual arts

We promote British visual arts through a range of activities and events including touring exhibitions, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Creative Industries

Artists and arts organisations in both Portugal and the UK are re-examining how they work. This makes the British Council’s work in the creative industries even more relevant and important.
