Access to Parede

The main entrance to Parede is by the railings.

We welcome visitors with disabilities and those bringing pushchairs. If you need help with access, or have any questions, please let us know.

GETTING HERE     

Parede is located in a detached suburban house.

Both Parede and Carcavelos train stations are about a ten minute walk from the centre.

There is a cobbled footpath outside the building.

DROP OFF

The drop-off point is directly outside the building on Rua Dr. Camilo Dionísio Álvares.

There is also a drop-off point on the premises that can be used by visitors with disabilities. Please contact us before your visit so that we can arrange this.

PARKING

Parede does not have a car park.

There are free parking spaces on the side roads either side of our building.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE

 

MAIN ENTRANCE   

Step-free access to Parede is provided via the main entrance. The main door is accessible to wheelchair and pushchair users.

The width of the main entrance door is 90cm.

From the reception area there is wheelchair or pushchair access to the classrooms on the first floor via a disabled people’s lift. 

INSIDE THE BUILDING

SECURITY CHECK

Before you enter the building you will need to go through a security check. This involves showing ID and stating the purpose of your visit unless you are a student in which case you will be required to show your student ID card.

RECEPTION

There are two customer service desks inside the main entrance. Our staff will be happy to help if you require any assistance.

If you use a wheelchair, we will speak with you about a suitable emergency evacuation plan.

BUILDING OVERVIEW  

Parede centre is on  is on three levels.

The  first  floor of Parede has a wide level corridor accessible to visitors using wheelchairs. Other sections of the building have steps up and down, for which there are no ramps. The ground floor and the second floor are only accessible by stairs.

There is a café on the ground floor which is not accessible to visitors in wheelchairs.

CLASSROOMS

There are accessible classrooms on the first floor and these classrooms are equipped with computers and tablets. 

You can reach the first floor by disabled person’s lift.

You can reach the ground floor and the second floor by stairs only and there is a handrail on the right hand side of these stairs.

Please contact us before your visit if you think the lift will be unsuitable for you so that we can make alternative arrangements. 

ACCESSIBLE TOILET    

There is an accessible toilet in the reception area. It is suitable for people using wheelchairs.

The width of the toilet door is 82cm. It is a sliding door.
